Coverage
What coverage do I get through Northbridge Insurance?
Third-party liability ($2,000,000)
Protection if you're held responsible for bodily injury to someone else or damage to their property.
Collision
Coverage for damage to your vehicle from:
- a collision with another vehicle
- hitting a fixed object like a pole, wall, fence, etc.
- rolling your vehicle (for example by skidding on ice)
Comprehensive
Coverage for unexpected damage such as:
- fire, theft, vandalism, falling objects, flood, lightning, explosions, hail, earthquake
What is my deductible?
A deductible is the amount you pay toward a covered loss before insurance pays the rest. For example, with a $2,500 deductible on a $20,000 covered loss, you would pay $2,500 and insurance would cover the remainder according to your policy.
- Economy vehicles (for example Honda Civic, VW Jetta, Toyota RAV4): $2,500
- Luxury vehicles (for example Tesla Model 3, BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLC 300): $5,000
Where can I find my coverage details and limits?
Check the documents section of your Roam account, or contact Roam's team if you need help locating your policy details.
Claims
How do I report a claim?
If you need to make a claim, please call us at 1-647-360-9640. We'll make sure you're taken care of.
For non-emergencies or questions about existing claims, you can email us at support@roam.auto.
It's useful to have the following information on hand. The more information you can provide up front, the faster we can help you.
- Report from the Collision Reporting Centre or the police.
- Vehicle information, licence plate number, and insurance and contact information for the other party.
- Photos of the damage or scene.
- Receipts for any out-of-pocket expenses.
- Receipts for any lost or damaged items.
When do I need to report a collision to the police?
You must report a collision to the police if one of the following scenarios applies:
- A person is injured (even slightly).
- The total value of damage to property is over $2,000. It's not often that you'll have an accident where the total damage is under $2,000, because you need to consider damage to your vehicle and any other vehicle involved, as well as peripheral damage (for example a streetlight, fence, or mailbox).
- The collision was caused by a cyclist, or a vehicle hitting an open door on your vehicle — regardless of injuries or the value of the damages.
In most cases, the police will ask you to visit a collision reporting centre to report your accident. Rules differ by municipality, so follow the process requested by the police.
If the third party is unknown, you must get a police report within 24 hours of the damage, since this could affect your coverage. Examples include hit-and-runs, single-vehicle collisions, and damage while the vehicle is parked.
If your driving takes you outside of Ontario, the rules of the road may change. Contact local authorities to confirm what to do in case of an accident.
