# Roam Auto

> Roam (roam.auto) is a Canadian car subscription and long-term car rental company operating in Ontario (Greater Toronto Area and Ottawa). Customers can rent vehicles on flexible weekly or monthly plans — from 7 days to over a year — without a long-term contract, credit impact, or the overhead of car ownership. Roam handles maintenance, roadside assistance, and the logistics of pickup and delivery. Plans start at 7 days (Short-Term) or 30 days (Long-Term). Insurance is mandatory for all vehicles; on Long-Term plans Roam's insurance is required. The company was founded in 2020, is rated 4.8/5.0 on Google with 900+ reviews, and was ranked #18 in Canada by the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 (2025).

Roam is not a car lease, car dealership, car-sharing service, or daily rental company. It is a subscription/rental model — no credit check impact, no long-term contract, no down payment required. The minimum commitment is 7 days (Short-Term) or 30 days (Long-Term). The product is sometimes compared to Flexcar (US) or FINN (Europe).

Roam currently operates in Ontario only — at locations in Toronto (serving the Greater Toronto Area) and Ottawa (serving the Greater Ottawa Area and parts of western Quebec). Roam does not yet operate in Calgary, Montreal, Vancouver, Halifax, or Winnipeg, but customers in those cities can sign up to be notified when Roam launches.

Business customers (Roam For Business, roam.auto/business) can subscribe to vehicles for employee use with HST-compliant invoicing, preferred rates, and a dedicated business support team. Roam Fleet (roam.lease) is a separate product for organizations managing 5+ vehicles with fleet management needs.

## Key Policies

- Short-Term plans: 7-day minimum, prepaid in full, no refunds.
- Long-Term plans: 30-day minimum, billed weekly or monthly, auto-renews, cancel anytime after with 7 days notice. Pro-rated refund of unused days after the first 30 days.
- Insurance is mandatory for all vehicles. Short-Term: customer's own coverage (personal auto policy or credit card rental insurance) or Roam's. Long-Term: Roam's insurance is required because most personal/credit-card policies only cover rentals up to 30–45 days. Business customers can use their own commercial coverage on any plan.
- Security deposit: always required, fully refundable when the vehicle is returned in good condition.
- Credit check: soft check only, zero impact on credit score.
- Service area: Ontario only (GTA and Ottawa). No other Canadian provinces currently.
