How is Roam different compared to a daily rental?
Roam is a Canadian long-term car rental and subscription service — one vehicle you keep for 30 days or longer, billed weekly or monthly, instead of per-day with a new contract each time. Your vehicle is yours until you choose to return it. Vehicles are the latest models from top brands, professionally maintained, and ready to drive.
How is Roam different compared to leasing a car?
Roam's long-term plans give you many of the benefits of having a car without a multi-year lease. Instead of locking into a 36- or 48-month contract, you drive for 30 days or as long as you need and return when your situation changes. Routine maintenance is included; roadside assistance depends on the protection plan you choose.
How do I get my vehicle?
You can pick up your car from one of Roam's service locations — for example, our Etobicoke office at 863 Kipling Ave — or use Roam's optional valet delivery for a fee.
What's included with my vehicle?
Your Roam vehicle includes routine maintenance like oil changes and dedicated customer support. Insurance is required and has a separate cost — on Long-Term plans (30+ days), Roam's insurance is required because most personal and credit-card policies only cover rentals for 30–45 days. Roadside assistance is included depending on the protection plan you choose.
How long can I drive for?
On a Long-Term plan (30+ days), you can keep your vehicle for as long as you need — weeks, months, or over a year. When you're ready to return, give 7 days notice and we'll arrange pickup. Flexibility is core to how Roam works.
Is there a penalty for cancelling my plan?
On Long-Term plans, give 7 days notice to arrange pickup; after your first 30 days, unused days are refunded on a pro-rated basis. No long-term lease-style contract and no cancellation penalty.
How do my payments work?
On Long-Term plans, you pay as you go — billed weekly or monthly by credit card, auto-charged every 30 days. There are no loans and no interest through Roam.
Can I use Roam for my business?
Yes. Roam works well for businesses that need flexible vehicles. Contact our team to discuss options that fit your team.
Can newcomers to Canada rent with Roam?
Yes. Roam is a rental, not a loan or a lease, so there is no financing or credit approval required. We accept foreign driver's licences for international visitors and newcomers to Canada — check the driver requirements at roam.auto for current eligibility details. Roam runs a soft credit check that has zero impact on your credit score.
Does Roam work for businesses and company car programs?
Yes. Roam For Business offers centralized billing with HST-compliant invoicing, preferred rates, and a dedicated business support team. Companies including Netflix, Amazon, and Deloitte use Roam for employee vehicles. For fleet management of 5+ vehicles, see Roam Fleet at roam.lease.
Is Roam cheaper than using rideshare daily?
Usually, yes, if you rely on rideshare for commuting or daily errands. A Canadian driver using rideshare daily often spends $600–$1,200+ per month; a Roam Long-Term plan gives you a dedicated vehicle for a flat weekly or monthly rate with no surge pricing or per-trip math. Rideshare remains a good fit for occasional trips — Roam fits better for ongoing daily driving.
